Date:

On behalf the Executive committee and members of SLCJF, President of SLCJF, Nalin Aponso, has delivered the following remarks at the Sri Lanka Media Talents for 2019 Silk Road Educational Project at Chongqing Normal University of the People’s Republic of China recenetly.

Very good morning to you. First and for most, thank you so much for warmly welcoming the delegation of Sri Lanka Media Talents for 2019 Silk Road Educational Project at Chongqing Normal University of the People’s Republic of China.

Our team represents and comprises of professional journalists from both print and electronic media, media practitioners of media departments of government institutions that are directly linked with the BRI, as well as media trainers and professionals of university academia.

At this very moment, let me acknowledge you the fact that Sri Lanka China Journalists’ Forum last year reached an exclusive Memorandum of Understanding with the Chongqing Normal University. That is to initiate an exchange programme of journalists between the two friendly nations. And we are here today, as a result of such fruitful efforts. Sri Lanka China Journalists’ Forum is an association of print and electronic media professionals and practitioners of Sri Lanka that makes a dedicated performance of nearly two decades towards the development of bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and China, to boost friendly ties between the two nations towards greater diplomacy.

Sri Lanka Media Talents for 2019 Silk Road Educational Project at Chongqing Normal University of the People’s Republic of China

In many a dark hour where media support, goodwill and assistance were needed to carry out Chinese investments and projects especially related to the BRI without hindrance, Sri Lanka China Journalists’ Forum took forward initiatives to make an informed majority from grassroot level to top levels of local as well as international communities to insist on the point that Chinese investment projects in Sri Lanka are the greatest support for the rapid and expedited socio economic as well as socio cultural development of not only Sri Lanka but of the entire region. As Sri Lankans, we are much obliged towards what the government of the People’s Republic of China and Chinese People as the strongest powerhouse of the present global economic stronghold is doing to boost bilataral and diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and China and rest of the world. We, as professional journalists and media practitioners, always express ourselves to be loyal towards becoming active partners of the Belt and Road Initiative of China.

Following the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the country has become the world’s number one in many positive disciplines including agriculture products, green industrialization, innovation, poverty reduction, social welfare facilitation, innovative employment generation, foreign investments, foreign investment projects and ma y more. If China is strong in socio economic and political spectrum, so will be the whole region and the world. Therefore, we are happy in such context, to become the first Sri Lankan media delegation at the Chonngqing Normal University to further our knowledge and skills on the Silk Road project and BRI at this historic juncture of the 70th anniversary of founding of the People’s Republic of China. We are also thankful to our colleague Mr.Chamara Ranmandala for maintaining his goodwill and ties with the Chongqing Normal University towards the sustainable continuation of this programme.

We thoroughly hope that all what we will acquire here during our stay in this beautiful country of China, will enrich and nourish our knowledge, wisdom and soul to make more positive contributions through our fields of professional journalism to boost friendly environments for more and more Chinese investments in Sri Lanka.

Last but not least, on behalf of Sri Lanka China Journalists’ Forum and the 2019 Sri Lanka media delegation here, let me convey my heartiest gratitude, honour and respect to all academic and non-academic staffs and volunteers for their immense performance to warmly welcome us here for a successful educational programme here onwards.
