Speech of the President of Sri Lanka China Young Journalists’ Forum Mr. Nalin Aponso at the inauguration of the China Education Exhibition at the BMICH on 21.05.2010
First and foremost, let me state that we, Sri Lanka – China Young Journalists Forum that fully facilitate the hosting of the event for the first time in Sri Lanka, is a leading collaboration of young journalists in both print and electronic media in the country who work to uplift the bilateral relations between the two friendly nations since the year 2001. Our sole objective is nothing but strong diplomacy through the enhancement of bilateral relations between our two friendly nations.
We consider this, as a top level of implementation we received, to host the event, through the entire assistance of the China Scholarship Council and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, as a result of the dedicated performance of our forum to uplift the friendship and the mutual interests between Sri Lanka and China. The sole strength of our forum to bring this a successful implementation was the team spirit, we have cultivated in all our work and the thorough bond we have with the media partnership in the country. Utilizing the entire aspects of these two components, we have been able to do the best in our capacities for the benefit of this worthy cause.
At a time Sri Lanka is facing a rapid socio-economic development in a post – war era, after the successful eradication of LTTE terrorsm under the leadership of His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, this first ever China education Exhibition in Sri Lanka would definitely be the most prominent event of the year, of this nature, for the youths of the country who are eager to go overseas in search of greener pastures of life and education. The entire exhibition will be the most accurate guidance and the opportunity, for all students and their parents received, I hope, to have a first hand experience into the educational opportunities available for the international student in fast developing China.
At this point I, whole heartedly, would like to appreciate the commendable assistance we received from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka, its cultural section and specially, Mr.Shi Bin towards the successful implementation of this programme.
As we brought this exhibition to be hosted for the first time in the country as an event not to be missed by anyone interested, in search of higher education of international standard and recognition, we would also like to appreciate the support rendered by the Ministry of Education and
Higher education in this regard. At the same time as the Sri Lanka – China Young Journalists’ Forum, we are very much pleased for having this opportunity, to organize the event in our country, through all our dedicated performance of nearly a decade to uplift the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and China towards stronger diplomacy.
We also convey our sincere gratitude in this regard to the Government of the People’s Republic of China, The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka and also the China Scholarship Council for selecting Sri Lanka to hold this mega event in the South Asian Region and recognizing Sri Lanka as an emerging country in the region in the spheres of regional socio-economic development. Last but not least let me wish you all the success and a bright future.
