Message by Hu wei, Chargé d ‘affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, on the Traditional Sinhala & Tamil New Year
On behalf of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, I would like to extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to the Sri Lankan people and all our friends, for a happy Sinhala and Tamil New Year 2020,
The past year was extraordinary for both Chinese and Sri Lankan, as well as for our bilateral relations’ fast development. Although this new year is celebrated in a very different way, our desire to bid farewell to the old and forge ahead with the new is even stronger.
China and Sri Lanka are true friends who go through the wind and rain and overcome hard times together. The COVID-19 pandemic has already became the common enemy of all mankind, and there is no borders for the virus. Currently Sri Lanka is at the critical stage in preventing and controlling the pandemic. We would join hands with Sri Lankan people, provide more support within our capacity, and fight against the COVID-19 side by side, so as to win this war that concerns the common destiny of mankind jointly.
In the dawn of the New Year, the great nation of Sri Lanka is raising with endless hope. So as to the China-Sri Lanka relationship for a new chapter. Once again, I wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! May China-Sri Lanka friendship last forever !
