After holding serval positions in the government, in 2018 he has appointed as the Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka where he served for two years.
President of Sri Lanka China Journalists Forum Mr Nalin Aponso along with other key officials of the forum, met with outgoing H.E. Ambassador to Peoples’ Republic of China Cheng Xueyuan recently where the members of the forum presented a plaque to appreciate the memorable service of the ambassador in promoting and enhancing the bilateral relationships between two countries.
Vice President Nuwan Liyanage and Chief Organiser Chamara Ranmandala of the forum have also attended the discussion.
H.E Ambassador Cheng Xueyuan, born in February 1965, at Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, has a bachelor degree in Chinese Literature and master degree in management.
1988-1994 Staff, senior staff member and principal staff member of Publicity Department, Municipal Culture Committee and Organization Department of Shenzhen Municipal Party Committee, Guangdong Province.
