30,000 Masks and 121,000 Posters Donated to Local Bus Drivers and General Public by the Embassy of China

On 17 August 2020, Mr. Hu Wei, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, handed over 30 thousand surgical masks and 21 thousand COVID-19 prevention posters to Mr. Kingsley Ranawaka, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB). The Chinese Envoy also handed over 100 thousand COVID-19 prevention posters to Dr. Uthpala Amarasinghe, representative of the Health Promotion Bureau (HPB), Ministry of Health.The masks and health guidelines posters to SLTB will be delivered to thousands of drivers, conductors and buses. And other posters will be distributed by HPB through its health network to public places (bus stands, railway stations, markets etc), schools, hospitals, health institutions, government offices and work places in all districts island wide.The Chinese Envoy appreciated the tremendous efforts made by the SLTB and HPB during the pandemic to prevent and control the coronavirus, and reiterated that China will always stand with Sri Lanka and jointly protect health and safety of the two peoples.
